Bushfire up close from Torqeedo powered solar boat

Kathryn and Stephen’s solar boat trip to Lake Cootharaba had more excitement that they bargained for…

They left from Noosa Marina and headed for Lake Cootharaba for a six hour gentle boat trip. On the return journey the bushfire came right to the river bank. Flaming embers allowed the fire to jump the river so it was comforting to have no fuel on board.

After the trip the batteries were still over half full, so the was plenty in reserve for unexpected events. This boat is powered by a 15kwhr pack of Thundersky lithium batteries and a 2 kilowatt Cruise 2 electric outboard.
