At The Torqeedo Shop we commissioned a solar electric launch from Scruffie Marine and we’ll be offering it for hire from Crystal Bay, Pittwater from about September. In the months leading up to that we’ll be showing her in some of the many rivers between Brisbane and Sydney, and we’ll be giving you the opportunity to see her close up and come for a river trip with us. We expect to have her in the water in June and after some shakedown cruises in the Brisbane area we’ll be clearer about when and where we’ll be showing her.
We haven’t set the hire rates yet but they’ll be around $300 for a half day (four hour) hire. We’ll be offering some awesome deals for those who wish book and pay in advance—so be sure to watch out for this announcement. After I’ve set up the ordering details for these bookings it will be announced here.
We’ll be using her to introduce solar electric boating as well as to showcase the Torqeedo electric outboards. She has purpose built low profile marine solar panels and light weight lithium batteries matched up with a delightfully retro launch reminiscent of the African Queen. The fitout includes a galley with fridge and an environmentally friendly dry composting toilet.
If you are interested in purchasing a Sienna you can contact us here at the Torqeedo Shop or speak with the designer and builder Derek Ellard of Scruffie Marine at 07 5545 1015 or visit their website.
