You can see a Torqeedo Travel 1003 on display at the Sydney Boat Show on the Sirocco stand #501 this coming weekend.
This is our best selling Torqeedo model—the electric outboard for tenders. The built-in battery weighs only 4.5kg and I’m often asked about battery range and whether it is sufficient for everyday use on on a tender. Wondering how far we could actually go with one battery Claude and I embarked on a trip by inflatable from Pittwater to Sydney about this time last year. This trip is about 20 miles by sea from behind Barrenjoey Headland to Little Manly Cove and it took us about eight hours. We had assistance from solar panels and they provided about half the energy for the trip. The battery was still 30% full as we came into Sydney Heads, and this is with the old 400watthour battery. You can see a video and more details in this blog entry.
The typical use is for a tender motor on an inflatable and we also have customers using a 1003 on variety of other boats such as Sea Eagle inflatable kayak, Porta-bote, Walker Bay dinghy, Lamoore dinghy, small sailboats and so on.
The travel 1003 normally comes with a tiller and for use on sailing boats where steering is done by the boat’s rudder a remote throttle is often preferred. We can change over to a remote throttle for $55 at the time of purchase or later a remote throttle can be added for $295.00
You can order a motor at the Show and we will deliver it to you next week. Look for Torqeedo at stand 501 at the Sydney Boat Show.
